Summary

My name is Magnus Chase。 These days， I'm one of Odin's immortal warriors， but that doesn't stop people trying to kill me all the time。

Loki the trickster god is free from his chains。 He's put together a crew of giants and zombies to sail Naglfar， the Ship of the Dead， in a battle against the Norse gods。 If he succeeds， the final battle of Ragnarok will extinguish all the worlds。

With help from Percy Jackson and my cousin Annabeth， and with friends by my side， I have to sail across the oceans to reach Naglfar before Midsummer's Day。 The only problems are the angry sea gods， hostile giants and evil fire-breathing dragon in the way。

But even if we survive the journey I'll need more than just Jack， my talking sword， to beat Loki。 I must find a magical elixir so deadly that it will either make me powerful enough to defeat Loki and put him back in chains for good … or destroy me entirely。

Middle school appropriate。 Author Rick Riordan， as always， does a masterful job of creating engaging characters and embracing diversity in a way that feels natural and respectful。 The plots are always high stakes， super colorful， and just fun to read。

I borrowed this book from a friend。 This book was probably my favourite of the series in the end。 Our main characters go on a mission to stop Ragnorok from happening， a feat that takes them across the globe and forces them to face foe after foe to stop Loki from sailing to ship of the dead and the prophised start of Ragnorok。 I enjoyed this because we get to experience so much with our characters， we get to learn more about their back stories， such as Alex and Mallory。 We get really tender mom I borrowed this book from a friend。 This book was probably my favourite of the series in the end。 Our main characters go on a mission to stop Ragnorok from happening， a feat that takes them across the globe and forces them to face foe after foe to stop Loki from sailing to ship of the dead and the prophised start of Ragnorok。 I enjoyed this because we get to experience so much with our characters， we get to learn more about their back stories， such as Alex and Mallory。 We get really tender moments between them that show the depth of their friendship and even romantic love for one another。 I enjoyed this trilogy a lot as it really was about friendship and found family in many forms， which I always enjoy。 。。。more

I think this book is good， but compared to Rick's other works it is not is good。 R R is a great writer， so this book is quite well written and has good characters。 I loved how he included representation of the homeless， gender queer， muslim and men with *great style* in this trilogy without making it feel like those character are there only for representation。 However， that is about as far as my love for the book goes。 In my opinion， this book has an anticlimactic ending。 （not with Magnus and Al I think this book is good， but compared to Rick's other works it is not is good。 R R is a great writer， so this book is quite well written and has good characters。 I loved how he included representation of the homeless， gender queer， muslim and men with *great style* in this trilogy without making it feel like those character are there only for representation。 However， that is about as far as my love for the book goes。 In my opinion， this book has an anticlimactic ending。 （not with Magnus and Alex though， I liked that） The 'diss battle' with Loki wasn't what I expected。 I Guess I thought Rick would put a lot of work into a lyrical speech from Loki， even though his writing isn't known for being very poetic。 The little speech from Magnus felt a bit to cheesy for my liking， but to be fair i'm a little bit above the books target age。So all in all， this is a good book， in a good trilogy， but it has a anticlimactic ending and considering the great writer this comes from， this is a bit of a disappointing series。If you like R R， this trilogy wont be a waste of time but don't expect something on par with PJO。PS。 don't say this just didn't take off because its short， the Kane Chronicles where AMAZING！ 。。。more

The entire series were absolutely amazing。 I loved the world building， every single character （some more then the others） and related to Magnus like he was another me in there。 Example: I put down the book to say something and when I picked it up Magnus said it as well。 I loved the lgbtq+ representation and couldn't bring myself to leave the series so they became one of the comfort series for me。 I am forever grateful to Uncle Rick for writing this masterpiece！ The entire series were absolutely amazing。 I loved the world building， every single character （some more then the others） and related to Magnus like he was another me in there。 Example: I put down the book to say something and when I picked it up Magnus said it as well。 I loved the lgbtq+ representation and couldn't bring myself to leave the series so they became one of the comfort series for me。 I am forever grateful to Uncle Rick for writing this masterpiece！ 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 You want to ask me about my theories？ I've waited YEARS for someone to ask me about my theories。In my opinion， the Magnus Chase books have some of the most loveable characters in the riordanverse。 However I still have some issues with this book。 1。 Character development for Floor 19 seemed rush。 Any of those new things we learned could've been learned in earlier books。 It seems like Rick remembered he had other characters besides magnus alex hearth blitz and samirah and decided last-minute that You want to ask me about my theories？ I've waited YEARS for someone to ask me about my theories。In my opinion， the Magnus Chase books have some of the most loveable characters in the riordanverse。 However I still have some issues with this book。 1。 Character development for Floor 19 seemed rush。 Any of those new things we learned could've been learned in earlier books。 It seems like Rick remembered he had other characters besides magnus alex hearth blitz and samirah and decided last-minute that he wanted them to have depth too， but some of that depth was forgettable。 Like what was Halfborns backstory again？ Most of the side characters' dialogue was either backstory/trauma dumping on magnus or making fun of each other and it gets tiring。2。 I have an issue with an ex-slave being named Thomas Jefferson。 I think it's a little weird that Rick chose that because he's white。 Also， why did he make Samirah take off her hijab in front of MEN？ "They're family🥺" Yeah i don't think Samirah is that close to any of the males in MCGA except for Magnus。。。The fact that Rick chose to shorten her name to "Sam" is a little weird too so i'd encourage everyone to just call her Samirah。3。 Alex/Magnus was a little。。。eh。 They could've had more development like i dont know。 There's a lot of questions I still have about their relationship， and they both individually have a lot of issues that they'd need to work through to get together。 So I didn't like that their relationship ended with like "omg UwU we are holding hands and we migjt die but everything's perfect" Ok frankly idc😭That's all 。。。more
